The Comprehensive History of Iran, a multi-volume survey of Iranian history in Persian language is published by The Centre for the Great Islamic Encyclopaedia (CGIE). The twenty volumes cover the history and historical geography, politic, culture and arts of the greater Iran, including all territories inhabited by or staying under the cultural influence of peoples of Iranian descent , from prehistoric times up to the Qajar dynasty. Many aspects of the religious, philosophical, economic, scientific, and artistic elements in Iranian civilization are studied in this series.

The series consists of 20 volumes:

Vol. 1-5 are dedicated to the Pre-Islamic Iranian Periods:

  • Vol. 1. The Indo-Iranian, Iranian, Medes and Achaemenian political history (Part I)
  • Vol. 2. The Achaemenid (Part II), The Seleucid, Parthian and Sasanian periods accompanied by the mythological history of Iran
  • Vol. 3. Economic and social history up to the Sasanian period; administrative and military apparatus in Iran, archeology and art of Median and Achaemenid periods (Part I)
  • Vol. 4. Pre-Islamic art and archeology (Part II), Pre-Islamic religions; education in Pre-Islamic Iran
  • Vol. 5. Pre-Islamic language and literature, historiography, geography, philosophy and other sciences

Vol. 6-20 are dedicated to political history of Iran from the fall of the Sasanians up to the Qajars:

  • Vol. 6. Iran after the Islamic conquest and the rise of independent and semi-independent states; Iran and the rise of the ʿAbbasid state, the Ministry and the Iranian bureaucracy
  • Vol. 7. Iranian states and governments in Khorasan and Central Iran from the Tahirids up to the Kakuyids as well as the history of thier political and administrative organization
  • Vol. 8. Buyid dynasty, Ghaznavids and Seljuks as well as other smaller dynasties in West Iran
  • Vol. 9. The Mongol invasion of Iran and Ilkhanate (Part I)
  • Vol. 10.  The Ilkhanate (Part II), Timurids and Safavid (Part I)
  • Vol. 11.  The Safavid (Part II), Afsharid and Zand dynasty
  • Vol. 12.  The Qajar dynasty, religious development, foreign relations with the Ottoman and European governments and the Constitutional Revolution of Iran

Vol. 13-20 are dedicated to the cultural history of Iran and Persianate Wolrd:

  • Vol. 19. Iranian Theater, Architecture, minor arts and Music
